About Nayarit

FF1flipped 110pixsMuch of Firefighters Crossing Borders efforts have been focused in the southern area of the State of Nayarit.

The first mission was in 2010 in support of the Zachary Chambers Foundations efforts to improve emergency services in the small village of Sayulita, part of the Municipality of Bahia de Banderas.

Later that year, we established an onsite regional representative who had been working with the areas firefighters sense 2008. With support from a newly elected Municipal President and assistance from community groups the Bahia Fire EMS Project has resulted in the opening of new fire stations, improved equipment, and better firefighter training.

Fire departments from other areas in the State have also received training and equipment donations.

Nayarit Training Symposium - 2016

on . Posted in Nayarit

The Royal DeCameron in Bucerias, Nayarit, was the site of the 2016 Bahia Nayarit Firefighter Training Symposium. On December 6, 7, and 8 over 70 Firefighters from the States of Nayarit and Jalisco attended courses provided by Firefighters Crossing Borders instructors from the US, Canada and Ireland.

This year’s courses included Auto Extrication, Rope Rescue, Fire Ground Survival and Surf Rescue. FFCB instructors worked alongside local instructors in our continuing train the trainer efforts.

The Royal DeCameron hotel also provided food for all of the instructors and Vallarta Gardens, a 5 star property only 10 minutes away, provided housing for the instructors. Thanks to both for their continuing support for our programs.

At this event, Firefighters Crossing Boarders, Protection Civil y Bomberos Nayarit and the Government of Nayarit agreed to work together to improve Fire EMS services for the people of Nayarit. FFCB is currently working with them on a major donation of firefighting equipment that will be shared by the areas firefighters.

Thanks to all who assisted with making this event such a success!
