About Sinaloa

OneSinaloaFirefighters Crossing Borders initiated it's relationship with the State of Sinaloa in 2006 with the delivery of a 100 foot ladder truck to Bomberos Culiacan. A second training session brought in firefighters from Mazatlan and other neighboring departments leading to the development of the Sinaloa Fire Training Symposium.

Today 80-100 firefighters and officers from every department in the state come to Culiacan each year to attend this annual 3 day symposium. Topics over the years have included fire officer skills development, engine and truck operations, vehicle, water and rope rescue, and more.

Beyond the annual symposium FFCB regional representatives work closely all year with department heads ushering in equipment and vehicles. In 2013 Bomberos Culiacan developed the first warehouse for equipment coming into Mexico from the US and Canada. Equipment is then distributed to departments in need throughout the State of Sinaloa through the non-profit association Bomberos Amigos.

Semi-tractor trailer load of equipment for Sinaloa!

on . Posted in Sinaloa

Novloadforculiacan 2This past November 24 pallets of donated fire, rescue, and EMS equipment were loaded onto a semi-tractor trailer bound for Nogales, AZ. Members of Firefighters Crossing Borders and Bates Technical College firefighting program students made quick work of the loading process. Thanks to Tacoma Fire Departments Training staff, the loading process all occurred at their training facility in the Port of Tacoma.

This month, firefighters from the capitol city of Culiacan, Sinaloa are headed north to the border to help usher down this massive load of equipment targeted for their state. This gear will be the first to stock the newly developed equipment warehouse at Culiacan Fire Department (Bomberos Culiacan) which will then be offered up to departments throughout the state.

Equipment in this shipment came from agencies throughout the Puget Sound region and beyond. At least 400 sets of turnout gear and more came from Seattle Fire Department, with other equipment and turnouts donated from Bainbridge Island FD, Lacey FD, East Jefferson Fire-Rescue, Bothell FD, Oregon Vol. FFs Assoc, Lacey FD 3, True North LLC, Arcadia City FD, City of Arcadia, Longview FD, Pierce County DEM, NOAA ship Fairweather and crew, and McLane-Black Lake FD in Thurston County.

Thank you all involved, this shipment will be outfitting an entire state of firefighters!
