Firefighters Crossing Borders began assisting firefighters in the State of Jalisco in 2008. Our first mission was a joint effort with TAPFIRE to assist in the creation of a fire department for Ayutla. TAPFIRE, our partner agency, was instrumental in the equipping and training the first-ever fire department of El Grullo in 2006.Off to Ayutla
After a successful fund raiser and several thousand dollars donated for the Ayutla project, Jose Lopez and several Gig Harbor citizens are driving the 3,000 miles to Ayutla, Mexico to deliver an ambulance, three police vehicles and fire and medical equipment. The Engine that was acquired will be shipped via Rail in November. In Feb 08, Tapfire and Firefighters crossing borders will send instructors to train Ayutla firefighters how to be firefighters.
