About Nayarit

FF1flipped 110pixsMuch of Firefighters Crossing Borders efforts have been focused in the southern area of the State of Nayarit.

The first mission was in 2010 in support of the Zachary Chambers Foundations efforts to improve emergency services in the small village of Sayulita, part of the Municipality of Bahia de Banderas.

Later that year, we established an onsite regional representative who had been working with the areas firefighters sense 2008. With support from a newly elected Municipal President and assistance from community groups the Bahia Fire EMS Project has resulted in the opening of new fire stations, improved equipment, and better firefighter training.

Fire departments from other areas in the State have also received training and equipment donations.

The program was developed with the State of Nayarit Civil Protection and hosted at the Royal de Cameron resort which also provided accommodations for our instructors.

Four FFCB instructors from California (2), Arizona, and British Columbia delivered a Train the Trainer workshop for 8 State of Nayarit experienced firefighters who assisted in delivery of the 3 Tracks of Training that included Live Fire, Auto Extrication, and Hazmat Awareness.

On the first morning all reviewed the Incident Command System, with a focus on the Command Sequence before dividing into three groups which revolved through each Track over the remaining two days.  The Command Sequence was applied during scenarios and skills developed at various areas.

The Director and Sub-Director of Nayarit Civil Protection y Bomberos opened and closed the event with presentations of certificates.

FFCB instructors will continue working with our new group of local instructors in preparation for upcoming opportunities to work together.  The State of Nayarit if very committed to develop their trainers who will deliver ongoing training throughout the State.

Each of the local instructors joined FFCB and were presented a FFCB T-shirt at the conclusion of the Symposium and were very excited to become part of our team.

FFCB has been asking by the State of Nayarit to support a second training event each year and alternate from Bucerias in December and Tepic the States capital in May.    Planning is already underway to do so.

Thanks to all that made this event the success it was!
