Sayulita Lifeguard training a success! (2)

on . Posted in General News & Announcements

On March 13 & 14 a class of 42 volunteers attended a basic lifeguard course in Sayulia. Nayarit. The free training was offered by the growing partnership of Firefighters Crossing Borders, Group Pro Sayulita, and Protection Civil de Bahia de Banderas.   We continue to work together to improve beach safety in Sayulita.

International certified lifeguard Instructors from Bahia de Banderas, Protection Civil y Bomeros delivered the training with support from other retired US lifeguards.   All students developed skills in Basic Surf Water Rescue techniques and emergency medical care.

At the conclusion of the event, five of the Sayulita volunteers agreed to become the core members of the Sayulita Surf Rescue Club. Together they will coordinator the Sayulita Auxiliary Lifeguards and will seek out additional members from those we’ve previously trained.  The Sayulita Surf Rescue Club members will support paid lifeguards to provide beach safety on the beaches of Sayulita .

FFCB continues to work with Protection Civil to promote and form other Surf Rescue Clubs on other beaches of the Bahia de Banderas.

Thank you to all that supported this event!
